This blog is about cakes, the launch of Frizelle Cakes in Chichester, West Sussex and my experiences creating all kinds of cakes from elegant wedding cakes to birthday cakes, fun novelty cakes to traditional celebration cakes, quirky cupcakes to personalised cookies.
I am a cake designer, baker, and decorator, an entrepreneur, a wife and a full time mum to a very curious toddler. I'm slightly... ok very... obsessed with cakes and spend far too much time daydreaming about my next design; imagining distinctive and unique cake creations.
Cakes are for celebrations: weddings, birthdays and parties and I am passionate that they should be breathtaking. No more boring, sloppy, gloopy mass produced cakes! Make the guests stop, gasp and smile... before they tuck in and devour the lot!!
I make sure that all of my bespoke cake designs are imaginative and personalised as well as tasting exquisite. And when I was told that " Frizelle Cakes creates the best cakes in Chichester" and was shortlisted for hitched.co.uk's "Breakthrough Cake Designer 2012" Award, I knew I was doing something right!
As an entrepreneur I follow trends. I read blogs, recipe books, cake and general food magazines, design publications, bridal magazines and many many others. I scour the internet for new techniques, products and influences and I gather inspiration literally everywhere: great textiles, retro patterns, vintage inspired wallpapers, a delicate garden flower, a beautiful jeweled necklace or some well loved china set for a rustic family meal.... I could carry on!
So, in this blog I hope to give you some fresh and new ideas. To be inspired, to look at cakes in a new light and to see some of the possibilities are out there from stylish, soft and pretty wedding cakes, to weird and wonderful recipes and cake structures! I'll talk about Cake trends, real life weddings and parties, do-it-yourself hints and time and the adventures of a small cake business start-up. And of course I'll give you lots of visual stimulation to get those taste buds tingling!
